The best way to volunteer at the Archaeology Lab at UTK is with our monthly Volunteer Day, where volunteers help prepare artifacts in our collections for curation (rebagging, recording, and reboxing artifacts), or assist graduate students with their research (washing, measuring, tagging, and bagging artifacts). Volunteers can sign up for the morning session (9 am – 12 pm) or afternoon session (1 pm – 4 pm), and join us for a brown-bag lunch lecture from 12-1 pm, when archaeologists from the Knoxville area will give a talk on local archaeology.
